Designers to Follow on Instagram

I love how easy it is to find inspiration to get those creative juices flowing when designing a new space for a client. Instagram is definitely one of my favourite places to see what’s new in the design world, and to see what other designers are up to. So of course, I thought I would share the love with all of you, with a list (in no particular order) of some of my favourite creative people to follow online. If these Instagram feeds don’t inspire you, I have no idea what will! And if you’re feeling a little inspired to give one of your spaces a little face lift after taking a gander at all this beauty, but are struggling at how to tackle the project (wink, wink), you can always reach out for a helping hand.

I’m sure you’ve seen their work displayed on Instagram, even if you aren’t aware of it. If you have, you’ll recognize the simple and clean elegance of their work immediately. If you haven’t heard of Studio McGee or don’t already follow them, you should absolutely go do that. As in right now. There are some serious design goals and loads of inspiration on their Instagram as well as their portfolio. And the best part is, other than all the amazing design inspiration that they provide of course, is that they also have an online store so you can infuse some of the McGee & Co. style into your own home.

I have quite the soft spot for Natalie at Nest Design Studio. Back when I was contemplating taking the giant leap and going out on my own and (finally!) starting my own design studio, Natalie was the one that encouraged me to do it. I really admire someone that helps you on your way up, especially when in today’s world it’s becoming more rare. But it’s not just Natalie’s amazingly nice personality that puts her on my list of designers to follow. Nest Design Studio prides themselves on styling each project to fit each individual client. Plus, Natalie has an Etsy shop where she sells the decorative pillows she designs. And there’s no better time to start following her than now, since she’s selling some of her personal collection in preparation for her big move.

If for no other reason than to watch Emily Henderson’s Instagram stories, you should start following her. Emily Henderson’s online social media presence is so on point, with so much audience participation! She’s constantly making videos touring around her newly renovated home, asking her faithful followers which option they prefer. Plus she provides oodles of helpful tips and tricks on how to style a space to completion to make it the perfect space for you. She even has a book dedicated to just that, which I may or may not be currently coveting to add to my own collection. Her style is a little more on the eclectic side, but still stunning.

Chris Loves Julia may not technically be “interior designers”, but they certainly have the design chops to be included in my list. They’ve done such a fabulous job renovating their house and making it the perfect home for their little (growing) family. I can never get enough of their home tour (I may have just re-watched it more times than I care to admit right now). Even if for some reason you aren’t already following this adorable family, you’ve probably already seen some of their finished spaces. Their deep forest green den is so dramatic but still insanely comfortable, the family room looks like the perfect place to curl up to watch a movie together on the giant sectional, and the new bunk room for the girls is so adorable I wish I was that young again. It’s so hard to pick a favourite space in this house!
