Home Sweet Rental | A Guide to Making your Rental Feel like Home

Making a rental feel like home can sometimes feel impossible. In many cases, you may have to work with what you have in the individual space, and make it feel like your own. The easiest way to transform a space by far, is using furniture and accessories. You would be amazed at how big of a difference smart space planning can make, or selecting the right scale of furniture for the space. Throwing in some pillows, and other accessories is an easy way to add some character and some personality to your new home. The Christopher Kennedy Compound at Villa Golightly

The sign of a good interior designer is a designer that is able to design for anyone, and create a perfect design tailored to his or her client. It’s truly amazing when you can have over 20 designers doing that in one house, and having each room seamlessly flow together. This year, I got the opportunity to go to Palm Springs for Modernism Week and visit the Modernism Week Show Home: The Christopher Kennedy Compound at Villa Golightly. Needless to say, I was in designer heaven walking through the 6,500 sq. ft. home, especially since I took 650 photos on my iphone! (Excessive? I think not!) If these Instagram feeds don’t inspire you, I have no idea what will! And if you’re feeling a little inspired to give one of your spaces a little face lift after taking a gander all these beauty, but are struggling at how to tackle the project (wink, wink), you can always reach out for a helping hand.

And there are so many different ways that you can create a gallery wall too!

One way is to display coloured family photos in nice, neat lines...

Style 101 | Picture Ledges

Picture ledges are so amazingly versatile. With a little creative outside the box thinking, you can come up with so many different uses. And considering they’re as little as $10 at IKEA, sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

There’s of course the standard way to use the picture ledges to help create a gallery wall. This is such a great way to do a gallery wall, since you don’t need to make a million holes in the wall. Plus if you’re at all like me, you won’t have to worry about changing pieces. Since you aren’t actually hanging each piece individually, it’s super simple to switch things around when you get tired of the current arrangement...
